SKYLIN3

Thursday 16 August, 2012 | By Ken

Previously unreleased for quite some time (a year ago, this month), this shoot has been waiting in the wings. Our good friend Alex, was the owner at the time of this GTR aka Skyline, which is now under different ownership, and actually looks quite different. But even after Alex has already gone through multiple builds including his EVO, his S2000 and now his Supra, we know he will likely shed a tear or two when he lays his eyes on his (ex) GTR’s Feature.

Always clean, and always fresh. Alex was meticulous with the upkeep of the Skyline. During the days Alex spent with his GTR, they went on many travels to many places. Among those places was Chicago, tearing it up in the Windy City for WekFest in 2011 while showing with the rest of his crew, Unique Auto Squad. This GTR made its rounds to the shows, meets and the streets. A familiar sight to many in the Tri-State area, she held celebrity status in her own right.

We found this particular spot at the suggestion of Rey from Unique Auto. Located in Northern New Jersey, the abandoned warehouse backdrop fit in perfectly along with those giant arches which appeared to be pieces to giant pipes or sewer tunnels. Still not sure exactly what those were, but they fit in just nicely for the shoot.

Those shoes! Strasse Forged Wheels in 21×10.5 for the front and 21 x 12.5R for the rear wrapped in massive Pirelli’s:  295/20/21 Fronts and 375/20/21 Rears. Meaty enough for ya? Rocking custom spec spring rate, 36-way adjustable Megan Coilovers, she sat just right. Eye-catching, beautiful and still more than capable for daily driving.

As fast as Nissan GTR’s are out of the box, as enthusiast, we are always looking for an edge. Sometimes that means going the extra mile to squeeze out every last bit of power and sometimes it just means taking something that works perfectly fine making it better. In this particular case, Alex replaced the factory exhaust with a HKS Y-pipe down pipe, and Megan catbacks. He also upgraded the factory intercooler pipes with hard-pipes and an HKS intake. As you would expect, this GTR never had much trouble giving the business to most cars on the road.

Alex might need a tissue because his GTR was just that sweet, but she’s in good hands now, and his next project will surely be another neck-breaking, head-turner. Stay tuned.

Shot by SNTRL’s own Kenny Bascon. Enjoy the rest of the Feature below!
