VINTAGE GEAR ADDICTS: Central Park Shoot
Within New York City, you are destined to find someone who is into the same things you are into whether it be brewing beer, modifying scooters, or collecting hard to find pieces of whatever. In this case, the whatever are expensive 90’s North Face gear. The hypebeasts of today have nothing on the guys and gals that wear this clothing. Some pieces discontinued for more than 15 years. In fact, we would argue that the modern-day hypebeasts or at least the mindset was created in part by the subculture that collects POLO knits and North Face jackets.
Last year, we heard about a gathering between like minded individuals mostly from the 5 borough who buy and trade TNF gear on the regular. Check out what happened last year. Although this year was not as scenic as last year’s snowy session, our very own Prav and Edo couldn’t resist checking out what gear was being represented.
Check out those slick vintage frames below! What is always interesting is that matched with the vintage faces, there is a plethora of other vintage gear.
If you don’t know what RTG stands for its remote terrain gear. Clothing built and engineered for some of the toughest corners of earth. Its interesting how some of these pieces have never been used for its intended purpose.
Polo and TNF are almost synonymous. Where you have TNF, Polo is just around the corner.
Some pieces were 10+ years old and still had the tags.
Laced with faces. Some brought a sliver of their collection.
When the girlfriend isn’t there, rock a dope colorway.
Taken in 2014 but could have easily been mistaken for the late 90’s.
The SNTRL fam will begin venturing into some of the different subcultures of NYC this year. There are so many good stories to be found in NYC, it’s impossible to not be intrigued. Hope you enjoyed this look into the world of vintage TNF collectors.
