Formula D Texas Part 1

Tim and I had the pleasure of having media credentials at the latest round of Formula D at the Texas Motor Speedway. This was the third Formula Drift event I’ve attended this year. Long Beach, Wall and now Texas. Tim’s been to all but the Seattle round. Coming off of the awesomeness that was Freedom Moves, we were hyped to capture the action of America’s pro drifting series once again. This would also be our first time in Texas. Most times when traveling, people usually ask what tourist spots we’re headed to, but we honestly only plan to hit the track every time we journey to a different part of America for FD. Everything else is the in-between. Leading up to the trip, we were honestly a bit worried about the temperatures we were about to encounter. Checking weather reports, we saw a week of 90-100 degree days. Seems our T-shirt tans were going to make a come back. Much to our surprise, FD Texas was cold! On Friday, the track temps were around 70-75 degrees with rain and wind. I think these conditions were great to be honest! My first time on the track as media, it was a blast getting up close to the action and rubbing shoulders with all of the industry professionals we’ve come to respect over the years. In my opinion, the practice sessions at formula D are the most fun for a spectator. Dope beats and more drifting you could ever want from all cars, not just the ones that qualified. If you get a chance to visit Formula D on the day before the actual competition, do it! It was on that Friday I was able to catch this awesome tandem reverse entry that Daigo shared on Facebook! (Still a bit excited about that!)

Tim Durnak is SNTRL’s resident badass when it comes to capturing all levels of drifting. We’ve decided to break this up into a couple of parts to give everyone a look at the as much of the action as possible. In this post you’ll see images from both the practice sessions and competition.
