RED BULL GRC Ft. Lauderdale: Part 1
Here we are, burning up in the sun. Ft. Lauderdale, a beach front city normally quiet. Until today. Violently awoken by the wonderful sound of GRC Rallycar 2 step Launch control, and anti-lag backfires. I was lucky enough to find the event a few days before, and get a quick request in for a media pass, and the prompt action of the Red Bull PR got me in.
An awesome birthday present to spend the day covered in sand and sweat trying to get the shots you all crave.
The day started off with practice and warm ups. The Supercar class of cars are where you see all the stars you know of. Ken Block, Tanner Foust, and Bucky Lasek to name a few.
There is also a class of up and comers in the Supercar Lites Series. The Lites cars, and drivers are no slouches. They also go into corners, and takes jumps with no fear.
Here are some words from Red bull themselves: “Austin Cindric made his first race with Olsbergs MSE count in GRC Lites, taking a commanding victory at the season-opening round in Fort Lauderdale. He defeated fellow Lites sophomore Alejandro Fernandez and teammate Oliver Eriksson to earn the first victory of his career.”
“Ken Block broke his streak of bad luck in Red Bull Global Rallycross season openers with a statement victory in the 2015 kickoff round in Fort Lauderdale. Block, last year’s championship runner-up, held off fellow 2014 title contenders Scott Speed and Nelson Piquet Jr. for the victory.”
With this being just part one. I highly suggest you tune into SNTRL.com for more coverage.
