SNTRL x WekFest Present The PREGAME – Part 2
SNTRL x WekFest Present The PREGAME – Part 2
After what started off as potentially rough night of “speedbumps” with our plans, turned out to be an awesome night of cruising and good times. Once we were able to fully regroup everyone after leaving the McDonald’s parking lot, we were now back on schedule and on track with the original plans. With “checkpoint” stops along the way, the group stayed together and the fun continued as we made our way to the Crossroads of the World aka Times Square.
If you aren’t familiar with how we put together The PreGame, we pay homage to a couple of meets that have become staples of car culture in New York City. In Part One, it was the Vraceworks Harlem Meet. As we approach Times Square, we pay homage to another big-time car meet. The Umali Halal Meet is a meet that has brought some of NYC’s finest rides to Manhattan each and ever year. Hosted by SNTRL’s own Chris Umali, the Umali Meet traditionally starts out at the famous, “Halal Guys” food cart on 53rd and 6th and then takes a cruise through the heart of Times Square for photos. For 2014, our route for the PreGame had us going through Times Square and bypassing the Halal Guys. We always love to stop and grab a bite of their “Chicken and Rice Platter” or “Mixed Platter” (don’t forget to drown your plate in White Sauce), but we also knew that since we weren’t starting out at 53rd and 6th for The PreGame, it would be a challenge to keep the group together while making a run to the food cart. Instead, we headed directly toward 42nd street and 7th Avenue.

“Night-marauders” roaming the streets of NYC.
The most awesome part about The PreGame isn’t the cars, the city nor the fun that we have. The most awesome part is the people that partake in the event each year. A chill event full of true enthusiast who come out for the same purpose. To create something incredible while having a good time. The PreGame would not be as epic as it is, without everyone that is a part of it.
In a City That Never Sleeps, there’s always something crazy going down. On this night, the PreGame was one of those moments.
You just never know what you may see.
Just a glimpse of the “Faces” of The PreGame. For us, it’s about family, friendship and camaraderie for a fellow enthusiast. The smiles, the laughs and the good times. It’s memories like this that make the night that much more special.
Big shout-out to the NYPD for keeping the city safe at all times. The small percentage of negative attention should never take away from the big picture.
Can you feel it? Driving down 7th Avenue towards Times Square is one of those grand moments where the bright lights welcome you with open arms.
While things did go smoothly for the most part, driving through Times Square a second time was required on this night since some of the photographers and videographers wanted to get some better shots of the bright lights and the rides.
After an event of cruising and flashing cameras, we ended The PreGame with a nice opportunity to just park and chill on the streets of the NYC.
Until Next Year….!!
