Maniac State Of Mind
Maniac State Of Mind: Danny’s Proton Persona
Location: Streets of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The stance and fitment trend has spread across the world in places far and wide. In a little pocket in South East Asia, Malaysia is no exception. Despite the fact that roads here tend to be in terrible condition and car prices are sky-high, Malaysia has an interesting collection of tuned rides. Some of the general public might even call them ‘maniacs’. Danny Zaffri’s properly fitted and boosted 2007 Proton Person is a fine example out of Malaysia.
The Persona is a locally manufactured family sedan from Proton, an automobile manufacturer that is only available in Asia, the Middle East and the UK. The Persona is pretty much in family sedan territory. Out of the factory, it runs on an inline four S4PH CamPro motor at an output of only 110bhp. Danny’s boosted Persona is doing 200bhp with help of a GReddy TD05 turbine boosted at 1 bar.
Danny first got the Persona back in 2011 as his daily driver. Most cars always start as a daily. In his second year of ownership, he started looking into some performance parts for the CamPro motor. Initial mods were pretty basic such as aftermarket exhaust, intakes and cams. At the time, he still maintained it in a naturally aspirated set up. By the end of that year, he was introduced to stance and fitment and focused on having his Persona sit just right. Utilizing GAB fully adjustable coil-overs and aftermarket arms, it was complimented perfectly with a set of 17 inch BBS RS wheels dipped in rose gold chrome, something you wouldn’t necessarily see on Malaysian streets.
In 2013, he continue the work on his Proton by going with a turbo set-up using a Greddy TD05 turbine. A peek inside and you will find that Danny installed original Illest Bride Low Max semi-buckets with Takata harnesses. The seats itself are a super-rare commodity in this part of the world.
SNTRL Fam, Matcanyon brings you this Feature with a bonus Feature Film of Danny’s Proton Person on the streets of Kuala Lumpur.

Besides Danny’s Persona, we were rolling in the middle of Kuala Lumpur with the Maniac Retrofitting crew, a stance and fitment crew largely based in the city. They aren’t a relatively large crew, but they see themselves as a group of friends that just love to roll in the city.
