Bug’d Out
Are you ready for Mitsu/EVO vs STi Day? Adrian and his WRX is. At last year’s event, the bug-eye made her appearance and was breaking necks. This year, Adrian’s Subaru went to Nightshift Performance in Edison, New Jersey to handle the wire-tuck duties as well as a few other notable upgrades in preparation for the big event. This is the 10 year anniversary of the rally-car arrival from Subaru, when the bug-eyes first landed on our shores in the U.S., and there is a bit of nostalgia that is now attached this particular model for historical reasons. Before 2002, import fans could only salivate at the idea of one day seeing a real WRX, let alone an STi or an EVO. 4-door, All-Wheel-Drive, Turbo and rally bred. It was a wet-dream for most people back then. These days, we are a bit spoiled with the choices we have and the availability of the cars on our shores compared to a decade ago. So when you see a super-clean, well-built bug-eye, the appreciation for where we are, and where we came is more than notable.
The work that went into this build is nothing short of impressive. Tomorrow, at EVO vs STi day, you will find Adrian and his bug-eye competing for the show, but just know though that this build is more than just a pretty face. Photographer, Andrew Temkin caught up with Adrian and the crew over at Nightshift Performance for a shop photoshoot. We look forward to another Feature with Adrian and his suby in the near future. In the meantime, be sure to check out this bug-eye at Englishtown Raceway tomorrow!
