Street Wars || EVO VS STi Day

Track Season is officially back! And what better way to kick things off, then with classic head-to-head, hard nosed, rubber burning competition to stir the soul. Street Wars and the EVO VS STi Day brought racers and enthusiast from all over the Tri-State and East Coast. Sunny skies and temperatures in the 60’s brought perfect racing weather, and the masses responded in droves. By mid-morning, the racer max was capped, and the spectator lots was full.

Track days are always exciting because you can be sure to catch eye candy and witness some on-road power along the way. This morning was no different as we managed to catch a few nice shots of an STi on the Turnpike and one fat-tired Muscle creeping along the side-roads to Englishtown, Old Bridge Township Raceway Park.
The lines to Tech Inspection were long, but moved along steadily, mixed with domestics, imports both old and new. It’s a wonderful site to see racers of all ages and backgrounds come together for the spirit of competition and some good ole’ fashion drag racing fun.
You can be sure to see Certified Racing being well represented at the track.
HiBoost V1.9 is another familiar sight when it comes to racing, always ready to run.
Although the first event of the year at Englishtown was mainly a race event, there was some very notable builds in the pits and the show area where MC Slick held it down on the mic in the 1320life.com booth.
This converted snowmobile was a fan favorite.
Incredible builds such as this ” Ellis”Miata by Night Shift are just a preview of what’s shaping up to be a really exciting race season.

Slick’d up Skittle.
An early unfortunate race casualty that went down for the count while in deep in the quarter. Motor blew and oil caught on fire. Thankfully, no one got hurt.
Don’t be fooled by this stock looking EVO. Street Tuned Motorsports aka STM gave the fans something to get excited about with a 9.3 in their street EVO RS.
Getting squirrelly on the track happens.
Jump the gun or R/T’d the heck out of the tree. This is the time to shake off the rust and get those driving skills ready for 2012.
EVO vs STi Day is always entertaining. A classic rivalry that in the past favor’d EVOs on the drag strip, but now finds plenty of STis ready to battle and lay the smack down.
A Tach Motorworks built/JR Tuned EVO taking it down on its first pass with a 10.1 @ 142.70.
Spring is here, and so is racing season 2012. See you in the next lane!
